If you're like me you start to run into decision fatigue after like two decisions (especially now), so I find the idea of creating a purpose statement to be a helpful tool to use as a framework when I'm making a decision for the library or my classes.
In the Art of Gathering, Priya Parker talks discusses the importance of having a clearly defined purpose (in her case for a gathering), and then using that purpose as a filter when it comes time to make a decision. Creating a summative project for my library elective? What did I say I value in my purpose doc? How can I make sure the values I named are are part of the project? Trying to figure out if I want to pursue in person book circulation at my site? What did I say about supporting independent reading in my purpose doc? How can I align my plans in service of that goal? Dreading library clubs this week? My DIY DL Pedagogy reminds me that library club meetings are actually in service to something I believe in.
